Head Hunters - FAQ

What is a Head Hunter?
A Head Hunter (aka shave organizer) is any motivated individual (teacher, student, employer, employee, etc.) who takes on the task of delivering a Shave for the Brave at their school, office, or in their community.

Anyone interested can apply to be a Head Hunter by filling out the Head Hunter form and then we’ll contact you to talk about the details, i.e. where, when, how big, etc.

What does a Head Hunter have to do?
The Head Hunter is Young Adult Cancer Canada’s (YACC) main contact within a school or office.  We work together to make your event becomes a reality and provide all the tools you’ll need, including an easy to follow step-by-step Action Plan, ensuring your Shave is a shiny success.

Generally, a Head Hunter selects a venue, drums up participation, and collects registration and pledges.  You would coordinate the details of the actual event as well, including getting any volunteer support you may need, as well as finding any necessary materials or equipment for set-up.

Remember, we are here every step of the way to answer any questions or concerns you may have!

If I apply to be a Head Hunter, does that mean I’m automatically signed up to organize a Shave?
Do not worry – just because you fill out the form doesn’t mean you’re committed!  We just want to hear from you and then chat together to learn how best to move forward.

Can I have people help me in my role as head Hunter?
Absolutely. You do not have to do all the work yourself!  In fact, as you’ll see outlined in the Shave Action Plan (which you’ll receive upon applying), it is suggested that you find a few volunteers, depending in the size and scope of your proposed Shave event, to help you out.

If you are a student, for example, you’ll want to check with your school and seek a teacher supervisor.  If you are an employee of a company, you may need to check with your boss to see if the event would be allowed.

Now, that is not to say that one person can not do the job!  It all depends on the individual and the details of their proposed Shave event.

Can people still register for my Shave event online?
Yes – if you, as Head Hunter, chose to make this option available.  After applying, we will discuss this with you and following confirmation of the date, time, and location, we can list your Shave online for participants to register and collect pledges online.

Where does the money go?
All funds raised during the Shave for the Brave go directly toward supporting our programs for young adult cancer patients and survivors. Donations allow us to offer these programs at no cost to the young adults that truly need them.
